Quiet surfaces
Most decoration is an apology for a weak structure. Strip the apology and the structure has to hold.
This is not a manifesto against beauty. It is a preference for rooms that do not shout. Type, space, a single material done well. If a piece needs a second flourish to feel finished, it is not finished.
